Getting Sprockettier

Sprocket seems to be getting over his episode of hypersensitivity/allergies. He started improving gradually Monday night after his first dose of feline steroid/antihistamines, and while progress hasn’t been linear, he hasn’t acted itchy and alarmed and severely agitated all day long. His last noticeable episode was this morning, before breakfast, when he dashed back to my bed a couple times after taking one or two steps out of my room, and then he acted like an invisible force field was keeping him there even though he wanted to hop down. He has returned to normal activities like watching out the window and napping (whereas before he was too hyper-alert to sleep deeply), though he has not sprocketted anyone yet. His appetite is improving and his tummy has calmed down since this weekend. And I am feeling a little less neurotic too.

It could be he is just now associating the bad feeling with other parts of the house. If he doesn’t get over it soon you could carry him out and show him it is all right now.

  2. Awwww. I hope he continues to get back to his Sprocketty self soon

happy to hear he’s improving, slowly as it is. but anything other than immediate return to 100% sprockettiness is too slow…

I very much look forward to the news that he has sprocketted Chun or a Miao Brother, though I’ll bet they are guiltily enjoying their unexpected respite from being bounced.

When Sprocket was acting so off, Chun was really worried. He would watch him and hang out near him in the closet in an alert sort of way, and then occasionally go up to him and give him a kitty kiss. But yesterday, Chun bopped Sprocket out of the window so I think that was a sign that he knows Sprocket is getting back to normal. Sprocket still has to sprocket someone, though, and come to meals without being carried, before he’s 100% back.

  5. YAY!! That’s our Sprocket – and I hope it just continues to get better and better until he’s “full on Sprocketty” again!!

  6. Glad Sprocket is doing better! Purrs to a full and prompt recovery!

He was acting almost completely normal this morning. Of course, I wasn’t home for a chunk of the day and there was no one to observe him. He didn’t come for supper by himself, which was worrisome, and when I found him he was on my bed and acting twitchy. But I lured him downstairs and he ate with a good appetite. He started licking himself a lot though, like he had been during the worst of it. He also got his medicine more than an hour late, because I was home later today. I hope he’s not starting to backtrack.
