Sprocket needs your good thoughts

Send Sprocket some good thoughts please, peeps. He hasn’t been acting himself since last night and I’m worried enough to take him to the vet. Hopefully it turns out not to be anything serious.

Sending all good mojos Sprocket’s way. Hope he feels better soon. Have you told him he’s going to the vet if he doesn’t perk up? That often works on my cats. “If you puke again, you’re going to the vet!”

  3. Laurie says:

    Bounce back soon, little Sprockers!

  4. Hope this is just a minor blip on Sprocket’s screen. Get better soon, Sprocket!

  5. ygrs says:

thank you, peeps. he’s ok. He had what they think must have been an allergic reaction that made him hypersensitive. Last night, he was really agitated and alarmed and spooked and twitchy, especially his back and his tail, and he was licking agitatedly and generally acting strangely. By the morning it was milder but he was still acting funny. He wanted to go to breakfast, but he ran half way down the stairs and then he ran back up like he was scared, with his back twitching. No redness or swelling or bite marks or difficulty breathing. But a year and a half ago, he was seen for almost the same thing.

BA said it sounded like feline hyperesthesia. I think he may have had milder episodes over the months that lasted for less than a minute, rather than hours like last night. The vet said the hypersensitivity may have been triggered by some kind of allergen. he had gotten into a particularly dusty/cobwebby area in the basement (under the stairs) that we thought was inaccessible.

He isn’t 100% back to himself yet, but now he is napping and hopefully when he wakes up for supper he will be sprocketty, not hypersprocketty.

He just hadn’t seen the vet for a while.
    Is fine now.

  10. Oldcat says:

Thank goodness it was not serious. I’m glad about that.

  11. Mark's Mews says:

Oh Noes! Our best Purrs coming right to him!

  12. Lauri says:

Whew! I was worrying about urinary blockage or something.
So glad it wasn’t that! Poor hyper Sprockers. I hope he’s better by this morning!

I didnt mean to scare peeps. I kind of lose perspective when i am worried and i just cant stand to see my little sprockerbee uncomfortable. I want him to be normal and start chasing the Miao Brothers again.

  13. SingingTuna says:

    Sooooooooo scary!!!
Pickles and Mila and I are all VERY glad Sprocket’s OK.
    You doing OK, too?

  14. littlemiao says:

He’s still acting strange. He won’t leave my bed to come to breakfast. He’s alert and he’s not in pain or injured, and his back isn’t twitching much now. I really wish I understood what is going on. I hope they are right and it is an allergic reaction, but it’s so alarming for him to be acting this way.

  15. Aloha, Sprocket. I know you’re feeling all itchy and twitchy, but you really need to try to shake it off and get back to your normal Sprocketing. Really, how will you ever be as big and beautiful as I am if you’re skipping meals???

And aloha, Littlemiao. Head bumps to you. I know it’s hard to see a sprocketless Sprocket. I have all 16 (or is it 20?) of my floofy toesies crossed for a speedy recovery. šŸ˜¦

Thank you, Pedro. It’s so wonderful to see you here offering wise words of comfort. *purrs*

Poor Sprocket still isn’t himself. The benadryl helped for a few hours but it also upset his tummy violently in both directions, so we are hesitant to give him more. After a couple normal hours yesterday in which he was looking out windows and actually came to supper without being carried, he is back to hanging out in the closet. If he finds himself in the open, he dashes madly for cover, usually the closet or on or under my bed. I’m planning to take him back to the vet tomorrow. hopefully they still think it’s an allergic reaction and not something more serious and they give him stronger meds like steroids. I remember the other time he had what may have been the same thing the symptoms resolved very quickly after the meds and didn’t come back. For a year and a half.
