Ping is back!

Everything went well for Ping.  Thank you for your good thoughts!  He is back home now.  He is roaming around searching for food because he hasn’t been allowed to eat all day, but he will have to wait till tomorrow.  They removed two canines and cleaned up his teeth.  They also removed a large-ish growth on his neck and two or three little wart-sized ones.  Unfortunately, that means he needed stitches and they had to shave his magnificent mane off, except in front.

He is getting quite desperate for food. 😦

OMG, I missed the whole thing!

It’s just as well, I would have been worried the whole time about His Imperial Majesty. So I’m glad to hear Ping is well, if slightly de-floofified. At least it’s summer, so the ruff wouldn’t have been as magnificent anyway.

My Ping-type boy HATED when his ruff got shaved. It bothered his manly self-esteem.

  4. Can you squirt milk to the back of Pings throat?

we called the vet and she said we can give him a quarter of his normal serving of canned food, and while he is not nearly satisfied, at least he is less frustrated. now he just has to wait till the morning!

Hmm – looks like some bugs in the WordPress ‘Infinite scrolling – I see 2 copies of this page, one after the other…

Glad Ping feels better – I don’t think my vets ever cautioned about feeding anything but hard food afterward, except to say the cat might not be hungry. But Gus always wanted food right off after fasting all day.

The doctor was worried about nausea/vomiting. i can’t remember if this is generally her recommendation after surgery, though we have certainly had enough Miaos Brothers have surgery for me to see a pattern.

But Ping had his little meal last night with no problem and he ate a substantial breakfast. All is well!

  6. Poor Ping……but at least he’s feeling better – good enough to WANT some food and I just bet he’ll gobble up his breakfast this morning like crazy! Hopefully his stitches spot will heal quick too and he can get that floof back in order ASAP!

thank you! Ping is very alert and active, which is a really reassuring sign. and he had a great breakfast this morning. things are getting back to normal.

hopefully he’ll have his ruff back by winter, when he’ll need it!

  7. Aww, the poor Ping must feel very strange without his royal mane. I’m glad he’s doing well after his vet visit though 🙂

  8. Redscylla says:

Well, perhaps he’ll enjoy the coolness of a reduced mane during the summer. So glad he came through well and I hope he’s having a royal breakfast this morning.

For a cat his age, only to have lost a few teeth is pretty darn good. Clearly you are a superior cat-servant, LittleM.

  10. Dianda says:

First thing to read when I opened my mail! Good that he is all well and back! The fact that he’s hungry is a good sign. 🙂
Hope he doesn’t drive you crazy too much because he’s so hungry!
Shame they shaved away his beautiful manes. 😦
