Hathor update

Good news for Hathor! I just got this email from my brother:

good news for hathor! thank you all so much for your thoughts and energy! the vet finished the x-rays and there was only one fracture in his jaw. it can be repaired with a pin, and wiring his jaw shut. he’s looking much better, swelling going down etc. he’ll be in the hospital through saturday. robby is very relieved. he says, “now i own the two most expensive cats in the universe” (recall number 5’s ER visits and bladder stones). after robby picks hathor up on saturday, he will still have to get through the wired-jaw experience, so keep him in your thoughts and keep the healing energy coming! we love hathor so much and we’re so glad he can have this surgery. robby doesn’t know exactly what happened, but it seems someone might have slammed a door on hathor while robby was at work. anyways, thank you all so much for sending your love, and i will update you all again after hathor goes home on saturday!

Thank you, wonderful peeps, for sending Hathor all of your good healing thoughts. We’re all so relieved.

Here is a photo of Number 5 comforting his baby Hathor before Hathor went to the vet.

Yay! I was worried. Universe plz stop picking on Miaos, kthxbai!

Yay, I’m so glad! Although I’m sure the challenges of feeding a wired-jaw cat will be considerable. And it’s a cautionary tale (tail?) about checking for cats as we all close our doors.

  4. Dianda says:

Yes! 🙂 That is great news!

    SUCH great news!~

So good to hear it wasn’t as serious as we had feared!

I knew Number 5 would look after his boy. He is the best cat daddy ever.

Sometime I will have to compare vet bills with Robby to see which of us has spent the most.

  7. What a relief. Hathor’s still not out of the woods yet, I imagine, but it’s good he’ll be able to come home and rest. I don’t know how finicky he is, but sometimes baby food—strained veal, lamb, chicken, whatever meat he’s fond of—makes a good treat for a kitty with a wired-shut jaw. Otherwise it takes a mountain of patience. Sending more good vibes Hathor’s way!

So happy Hathor will be feeling better soon. Speedy recovery to him!

Whew. Poor little guy. I’m so glad he has beans and dads to care for him.

wired jaw sounds like quite an ordeal.
Skritches is a $6,000 cat (not including routine care or incidental illnesses). Does she win or does Hathor?

I’m not sure of the details, but I bet Skritches wins. I told my brother about her experience and they found the story of her recovery very encouraging. Thank goodness Hathor’s injury doesn’t sound as bad as hers was.

I think Prince Tweets’ week-long stay in the hospital 2 years ago when he had acute nephritis totaled almost $3000. I think he would have been insulted if the cost was any less. Precious Prince. Of course the two years we had after that were worth every penny.

oh what a sweet picture, I can tell there’s something wrong with his mouth. Please get will soon little guy!

This makes me sad…..I’m now catching up on old post readings and I know that Hathor went over to the Rainbow Bridge already. I’m sorry that things didn’t go well, but we know that he’s no longer in pain/suffering. God Bless!!
