good sprocket news

Sprocket is out of surgery. Everything went well. He is staying overnight at the clinic with a narcotic drip to keep him nice and sedated. Then tomorrow morning, he gets to come home!

I’m so glad, Little M! I have been worrying/thinking about him and you all day! The little guy deserves The Good Life now! Naow! 🙂

  2. lauowolf says:

The worst is over then, and it’ll be uphill from here.
Poor little guy, he’s about due for his happily ever after now, and here you are ready with it,

  3. Lurkertype says:

Yay! It will probably be a relief not to have to drag that leg behind him. He’ll be able to pivot and turn on a dime now. HRTortie has this little hop/pivot thing she does to avoid her bad paw that is very effective and extra cute. I’m sure once he gets home, he’ll want FUD NAOW!

If he’s still sleepy tomorrow, that will be an excellent chance to get photos.

      photos of his chin spot!

      which paw gives HRT trouble?

      • Lurkertype says:

HRT’s front left paw is a club foot. Turned out instead of in. She can’t retract a couple of the claws and they’re all gnarly shaped, as are the associated toes. The whole paw is just funny-shaped and sideways. We thought it might slow her down but it never has. There are some times (esp. when it’s cold and damp) that she doesn’t like to put weight on it unless she has to, so she’ll do a hop on the other paw to turn left or right sometimes.

She has taken her imperfection and made it cute, so I’m sure Sheng will too.

I bet that HRT has the same attitude as Prince T – everything about her is by definition cute and perfect.

I’m curious how Sprocket will deal with kitty trees. Probably better than Chun, who still falls off quite often, usually while he is playing with Lotus or climbing up.

          • Lurkertype says:

Of course. She isn’t called Her Royal Tortieness for nothing. She is the definition of cute.

Sprocket might take a while to learn how to climb kitty trees, since the propulsion is the back legs. He’ll have to develop a style of pulling himself up rather than pushing himself up. But some cats don’t like cat trees at all anyway.

            • Oldcat says:

Maybe a tree that has ramps and stairsteps would suit him better. Or you could put together some gradual stepping stone places for a cat that can’t jump well. I have done that in a few places for Gus, who isn’t jumping so well anymore as he gets older.

  4. Oldcat says:

I’m very happy he’s doing ok. He may not be a tuxie or a cow kitty or a kitler, but he surely has the yin-yang coat happening.

  5. Drude says:

Ooh I missed all the paw crossing during surgery… so here’s for quick healing and not too much embarrassing cone of shame time

    • littlemiao says:

      Thank you!!

I hope that he starts liking his collar a little more, otherwise it’s going to be a long two weeks. i’m assuming he’ll need it on at least until the stitches are out…
