Miao Cousins!

I got to meet my brother’s kittens today! They are an adorably bouncy bunch of kittens and I was very tempted to sneak one or more away with me when I left. Unfortunately, I did not go prepared with my Nikon (best for rambunctious kittens in lowlight indoor environments), and my little camera was almost out of battery. I did get a few pictures, though. Here is a small preview:

From left to right: Dalek, orange & white kitty and runt of the litter; Ozzie, possibly a girl marmie; Heqat, fuzzy little tux kitty; and Hathor, orange and white cow kitty with a very big appetite.

four kittens!

and of course the mama cat, Bungalow:

Stay tuned for more later!

In case you can’t wait, though, here is the flickr stream.

I couldn’t wait. I had to go straight to flickr! Oh, so cute. The last photo, the one of little black & white Hecate staring the camera down is brilliant.
Good job mum cat. (Is your name really Bungalow?)

    • GanLu says:

bungalow is her name indeed. you can find short bios of all my cats here: http://sweetprince.net/words/kittens/

      • Lurkertype says:

can’t you get a good look at the kitten butts to see what gender they are under their fuzzy tails?

all the orange girlcats I have known have been grumpy and nutso. and all torties are divas. mine’s anorexic sometimes too.

what sort of brain power does Corexit have? b/c he looks exactly like my cat, who’s a complete idiot.

        • GanLu says:

we can get a good look, but we’re not sure what we’re looking at. we thought they looked like boys at first, but as they get bigger, they look less and less like they have balls. heqat and hathor are obviously boys. ozzy has decided to be a girl. dalek is growing more slowly than the others and he’s so tiny, so i think that contributes to our uncertainty.

i’ve known orange girls who have been earthy and playful and sweet. it’s the brown tabby girls i’ve known that have been “grumpy and nutso”.

corexit’s brain… has the power of beef. and ham. he’s made of muscle, and the brain isn’t really a muscle. but the heart is a muscle! he’s so full of love that he doesn’t have room for brains!

corexit is kind of like fezzik from “the princess bride”.

I have been doing studies on tuxedo cats for years, gathering data. Most of them seem to be powerfully stupid. I think they’ve decided that they’re so cute they don’t need brains.

it can take a while for their little furry balls to arrive as you know.

is Bungalow getting fixed as soon as the kittens are weaned? she’s a good mommy but doesn’t need to go through it again, particularly if the Oedipal thing kicks in — inbreeding is bad.

            • Lurkertype says:

foo. The spacing didn’t work on the second boy illustration.

            • GanLu says:

we’re definitely getting bungalow spayed as soon as possible!

kit-kat was impressively clever. but he also had to fend for himself in the woods for awhile when jd left for college and his parents thought kit-kat had run away. so… maybe, as long as they have a life of luxury, they choose not to bother with brains, but they still keep the latent brain-potential available in case of emergencies?
